The goal or mission for the software tester needs to be defined. For manual testing, the only concern is whether or not the implementation software meets the requirement as specified by the IT organization. From a business perspective this is too narrow a view. Testers need to ensure that software not only meets the requirements, but is in fact usable by the customer.

If both types of defects are incorporated into the software testing charter, testing must be viewed as a life cycle activity. The fact that software may not meet the customer’s needs required testing during the definition of requirements and software system architecture.

The tester should always have the key responsibility to decide what to do ? and what not to do ?. Only the quality in testing will result in a quality product. Testers should always make wise decisions to avoid any kind of criticality during the release of the project.
